Before I wen to the hospital, I made a box for my son to open on his 18th birthday in case something happened to me. I put several items, most of sentimental value, inside the box. I put his great-grandfather's pocket knife and a few items I purchased the year he was born. However, I was unable to locate his great-grandfather's wedding ring. My maternal grandparents were married in 1943. My wife put it on my own finger when we got married. Unfortunately, I have put on some weight since then and the ring is too small for me to wear. By the time my son gets married, the ring will probably be a hundred years old. I looked and looked and could not find it. I did need to get to the hospital though and I stopped searching.
The staff thought it might be something wrong with my kidneys. They ran blood and urine tests. They even did a CT scan. They finally concluded that I had pulled a muscle as I had been doing some heavy lifting. I was relieved to say the least.
My wife and I prayed for the ring's recovery several times.
I was too sore to look for the ring on Tuesday and Wednesday. I looked again yesterday. I was pretty sure I had put it in a certain box. As I was concluding my search, I noticed a small box of matches on the floor of my room. I heard a voice tell me to look inside. I did. There it was!
I kept saying, "Thank you, Jesus" over and over again.
It reminded me of the parable of the lost coin.
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the over the house, and seek diligently till she find it?
And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
---Luke 15:8-9.
I let everyone know that I had found it. I posted it in a testimonies section on a Christian forum. I told my wife. Now I am sharing it here. Jesus said similar things happen when a person is saved. Saved people rejoice when another person is saved. Or at least they ought to. I remember a woman whose grandson had been in trouble with the law, She even suspected he was on drugs. When he got saved, she called everyone she knew. And there's something even more amazing than saved people rejoicing over a lost soul finding Jesus.
In the next verse, Jesus said that even the angels rejoice when a sinner repents. I was saved when I was a boy, but there was a time when my life was falling apart and it didn't look like it would ever be put back together. I was angry at God. However, he met with me up on a mountaintop and I fell in love with Him again. You may not believe me, but I swear I could hear the actual music of Heaven when this happened. I believe the angels truly rejoiced with me and God.
